PG&E Smart Meters Up For Debate

Do PG&E's Smart Meters live up to their name, or are they actually duping customers out of their money?

That's the question Senator Dean Florez hopes to answer in a public hearing tonight in Downtown Fresno.

Stories about sky-rocketing bills coinciding with the installation of the new meters are swirling around the Valley.

While they high tech electric meters were supposed to offer savings to customers, Senator Florez says PG&E is the only winner here.

A PG&E spokesperson denies the correlation between the Smart Meter installation and higher bills, saying rate increases and hotter than normal summer are to blame.
