Lt. Governor Candidate Tops Million Dollar Mark
Senator Dean Florez, D-Shafter, reports his Lt. Governor campaign has topped the $1.25 million dollar mark one year prior to the race.
Florez expressed his appreciation to his large and still-growing small contributor base that stormed the internet in the last few hours before the June 30 reporting deadline with $30 dollar donations.
The Senate Majority Leader's campaign will report having raised over $1.25 million by the end of June, and nearly $900,000 cash on-hand for the race.
"The resounding support from so many throughout California so early in this race reconfirms that people want to see a reformer running on their statewide ticket," Florez said. "California needs a Lieutenant Governor who will fight until this great state is turned around and back on the right fiscal track."
With less than a year until the 2010 Primary, no other Democrat mentioned as a potential opponent for Florez has raised any significant amount of money for the race, as evidenced by donors over $5,000 - which must be reported within 24 hours.
To date, no candidate considering a run for Lt. Governor on the Democratic Party ticket had amassed a single contribution over this threshold.
